No tweets that start with or contain @username are picked up by tweeria

If I just tweet something without any @username in the tweet, then it shows up on my tweeria timeline and causes things to happen. But over fifty tweets in the last few days that either started with @somebody or contained someone's twitter name later on in the tweet were apparently invisible to tweeria or at least didn't show up on the timeline, didn't cause anything to happen, and didn't count for tweeria.

Since 99% of my tweets are directed toward someone, in reply to someone, or refer to someone, using their twitter handle... this makes the game basically nonfunctional for me. And I'm pretty sure it's not the way it's supposed to work anyway.
